The Philippines: A land of Islands, Languages, and Peoples

The Ayta Mag-Indi are one of several indigenous Ayta groups who live around the mountains of Porac and Floridablanca, Pampanga. The name of their language is Mag-Indi.

From the beginning, the Ayta Mag-Indi have believed there is a God whose name they call “Namalyari”. They also believe that all things here on earth are from Namalyari only. So when they harvest their fields, the Mag-Indi have a custom called “pamadêp” which they must do as their way of giving thanks and honor to Namalyari. The livelihood of the Mag-Indi consists of farming, hunting, fishing and caring for livestock.
